The Lebanese newspaper THE DAILY STAR closes its doors and lays of its employees

"Daily Star", is an oldest English-language Lebanese newspaper, has informed its employees of laying off their jobs, according to what France-Press Agency quoted from employees of the newspaper, as a move that comes after years of deterioration in the press sector, which was worsened by the economic crisis in Lebanon. 
The newspaper, in which the family of former Prime Minister Saad Hariri owns shares, had previously suspended its paper version in February 2020 as a result of financial challenges and  decline in advertising revenues, and employees at the time reported that they had not received their salaries for months.
Since then, the newspaper continued publishing on its website, but the process of updating the website and publishing news have stopped since October 13.
