Minister of Culture meets Palestinian ambassador in Baghdad

Minister of Culture, Tourism and Antiquities: Hassan Nazim, called for participation of Palestinian culture represented by theatrical troupes and cinematic and literary productions in Iraqi cultural events and festivals.  
In a statement followed by Nakhil Iraqi, Mr. Nazim said during receiving the Palestinian Ambassador in Baghdad “we feel the great value of Palestinian culture, intellectuals and artists in Iraqi culture, such as Jabra Ibrahim, Khaled Ali Ibrahim in the House of Cultural Affairs, Muhammad Hussein Abdul Rahim and many others”.
The meeting referred to a review of the most important cultural projects and cooperation between the two countries, and discussion was made to strengthen cooperation and cultural communications between the two countries.  
The minister received Palestinian participation request in Arab Theater Festival in Baghdad, in addition to their contribution in future festivals, including (Film Festival).
In return, Mr. Akl said during the meeting, "We have discussed with you previously the ways of official cooperation through the next  understanding  memorandum meetings which may be held in Ramallah or Baghdad in the future,"  noting that: the most important Palestinian cinematic productions were achieved by Iraqi minds and hands prior to   revolution. 
As for Iraq’s winning the membership of UNESCO Antiquities Recovery Committee, Mr. Akl requested Iraq to support Palestine to gain membership of the above committee in next conferences. He added “We aspire to establish joint activities such as a mutual week for theater, a week for cinema, organizing trips, and exchanging camps for youth and children to learn about the culture and folklore of both countries.

In the meeting they discussed also the ways to release pension for the  Palestinian Khaled Ali Ibrahim’s family; an employee at the House of Cultural Affairs.
